Strong Slate of National Teams Decided

Nearly 600 entries from five states came together Saturday and Sunday in Chapel Hill for one of the premier spring events on the East Coast! The Tar Heel State Classic saw a slew of state champions and placers in the mix seeking to earn top billing and a chance to represent Team NC at this summer's USA national dual competitions.

In addition to stars from North Carolina, top wrestlers from Maryland, Virginia, Tennessee, South Carolina, Georgia, and Florida were also in attendance. Club awards were presented in Freestyle to RAW, NC Wrestling Factory, Sly Fox, and Western Carolina WC. Greco awards went to Carolina Elite, Eastern Carolina Wrestling Academy, Lumberton, and NC Wrestling Factory.

Top North Carolina finishers in the 14U, 16U, and Junior Divisions (men's and women's) earned first option on National Dual Team slots, while North Carolina's 16U and Jr. winners earned a berth in the 16U/Junior Nationals in Fargo, ND this summer. Any slots not filled for dual teams will be filled from the state championships May 4-5 in Mooresville, while the top 2 finishers at the state championships will also earn spots for 16U/Junior nationals.
