The Vegas Strip was alive this weekend with wrestling action, and several success stories coming out of this year's Open were homegrown North Carolina talent.
Daren Burns finished 3rd at 98kg in the Greco-Roman competition, with Jamel Johnson scoring a 4th place finish at 66kg.
Quinton Godley finished forth in an extremly tough 74kg freestyle weight class, while Raymond Jordan gutted out an 8th place finish at 86kg.
Several other North Carolina wrestlers also had great showings in both the Open Championships and the FILA Junior Championships.
The highlight of the event was an epic 7-6 come from behind victory for Jordan Burroughs against David Taylor in the final match of the night. Burroughs trailed with 6-3 with only 30 seconds remaining, but scored two huge takedowns as the final seconds ticked off to earn his third Open title.
