Recent Enka graduate Kacee Hutchinson will be leaving Fargo, N.D., in some rarefied air.
Hutchinson is one of the few wrestlers in Western North Carolina history to finish as a double All-American at the ASICS/Vaughan Junior and Cadet National Championships.
Hutchinson came in fourth in the 220-pound junior freestyle division today after earlier placing seventh in Greco Roman at the same weight class.
More than 850 wrestlers from across the United States were involved in the massive North Dakota tournament and Hutchinson competed in 15 total matches.
Next up for the reigning two-time Citizen-Times All-WNC Wrestler of the Year?
Hutchinson has signed with Appalachian State University where he will begin his college career as a seven-time All-American.
As a senior for the Jets, Hutchinson went 58-0 and was named the 3-A state tournament’s most outstanding wrestler as well as the Mountain Athletic Conference Wrestler of the Year after capturing his second consecutive NCHSAA 3-A championship at 195 pounds.
Hutchinson finished his career at Enka with 204 wins, the second-most in WNC history.
