As 2025 comes to a close, we pause to celebrate a banner year for Team NC and USA Wrestling, and look ahead to another exciting year coming in 2026!

At every level, Team NC and USA Wrestling saw tremendous progress and success. World Champion Trent Hidlay was one of the biggest stories of the year, bringing a 92kg senior world title back to Raleigh ,and solidifying himself as a leading front runner in the run up to LA2028. 

Across all age levels USA teams dominated, posting one of the most impressive seasons in the organization's history.

Women's wrestling continues to explode across North Carolina. Womens  membership continued to skyrocket up 21 percent to 583 in 2024, and then another 22 percent increase in 2025 to 709 female members. With another 20+ percent increase this year its very likely that NC will surpass 1000 female members in 2026! 

Fall of 2025 also saw Team NC introduce the North Carolina Kids Wrestling Federation (NCKWF) to help better coordinate youth folkstyle activities across North Carolina. Youth leagues, a growing number of kids folkstyle events, and improved coordination and promotion of the Elementary, Jr. High, and Girls State Folkstyle Championships as well as USA Folkstyle Nationals will all be part of this new initiative. 

Many exciting plans are underway for 2026 across North Carolina including::

-National teams offerings for both men and women for all age groups

-A strong spring schedule of folkstyle, Olympic styles (Freestyle & Greco) and Beach wrestling for athletes of every level to participate in.

-Important Officials education and recruitment efforts to continue improving the quality and quantity of wrestling officials in ALL styles across North Carolina

-Continued expansion and promotion of girls and women's wrestling at every level.
