Crawford and Bane Post Breakthrough Performances

The continued growth and progress of women's wrestling in North Carolina was on display Thursday as the 2025 High School Women's Showcase wrapped up in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Iyanna Crawford knocked off #4 seed  Sophia Ball in the quarterfinals, and then upended #1 seed Emma Chacon in a thrilling 8-8 semi final shootout  to earn a spot in Friday's finals. Crawford dropped a tough 17-6 decision in the finals to #2 seed Danica Torres of Arizona to earn a runner up finish after staring the tournament unseeded.

Faith Bane also had a strong showing, winning her first two bouts in dominant fashion before falling in a tough 5-5 semi-final loss to eventual runner up Ryan Hickey. Bane then reeled off four strong wins including a 8-2 decision over Margaret Buurma of Michigan in the consolation finals to finish third overall.
