Clubs and Donors Partner with Team NC to Support Important Causes!

Clubs in North Carolina and Team NC wrestling have started this spring season with some great tournaments. But beyond just providing quality local events for wrestlers all across North Carolina  to participate in, there are other important causes that have been front and center this spring.

One example is the recent Warriors to the Rescue Tournament, held at East Wake HS in Rolesville, NC. Not only did the event provide wrestlers valuable mat time in both Freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestling styles, but they also raised over three thousand dollars to support wrestling programs in Western NC affected by Hurricane Helene.

Another event that has become much bigger than just a wrestling event is the annual Blacklight Bash, held at Mitchell High School again this year. Proceeds from the event not only benefited Western Carolina Wrestling Club (the host club for the event), but also the Sgt. S. Matthew Baynard Foundation, which regularly provides free wrestling equipment and support to athletes participating in major national and international competitions.

One final initiative that Team NC has been part of is the effort led by Carolina Takedown Talk and NC Mat to raise funds in an effort to help reduce the financial burden faced by North Carolina wrestlers seeking to compete in Fargo at the 16U/Jr. National Championships this summer. This "phase 1"  effort has raised over $5000, with additional efforts to be pursued this spring. The goal is to lower the cost barrier for North Carolina's best wrestlers to represent Team NC at arguably one of the most important off-season events of the year.

Membership in Team NC and participation in NCUSA sponsored events  provides wrestlers of all ages the opportunities to develop their skills to the highest levels in our sport. But beyond just personal wrestling growth, they also help grow the sport of wrestling and the wrestling community throughout our state. THANK YOU for YOUR support of these efforts, and lets continue to work together for the betterment of our sport and our state!
