Wrestling is EVERYWHERE this weekend!! FOUR great local events are on tap this weekend across North Carolina, and of course the NCAA Championships are set for this weekend in Philadelphia, PA.
Saturday kicks off with the longest running spring event in North Carolina- The St. Stephens Freestyle Open. Begun in 1986, this event in Hickory, NC offers custom medals and great competition year after year! Also on tap for eastern parts of North Carolina is the Coastal Clash. This Freestyle and Greco-Roman event at Croatan High School has become a staple for great spring Olympic style competition of all ages.
The action continues Sunday with the Trojan Freestyle Open at Bandys High School in Catawba. This new event is freestyle only for all ages and will honor weigh-ins from the St. Stephens Open!
St. Andrews University will once again be the site of the Crew Club Duals, and will feature team competition in Freestyle for both mens and women's teams. Weigh-ins from both St. Stephens and Coastal Clash will be honored at this event.
In addition to the great local wrestling action, NCAA Division 1 Championships kick off Thursday in Philadelphia. 25 NC based wrestlers will compete this weekend including: 8 Tarheels, 8 Wolfpack, 3 Mountaineers, 3 Camels, 2 Bulldogs, and 1 Blue Devil.
