The 44th Tar Heel State Classic returns to Chapel Hill this year and marked the first major qualifying tournament of the spring season. Wrestlers from NC, SC, VA, KY, and OH are  competed in the event.

14U, 16U, and Junior wrestlers qualified for Team NC National Dual Teams, and the winner in each 16U/Junior weight  also qualified for Fargo as well.

The Tar Heel is also a major event in the NC Top 50 Series.
