Local Events from Mountains to Coast For Wrestlers Serve as State Tourney Tune Ups!

Wrestlers competed in three different NCUSA events this past weekend as they prepared  for May 1-2 State Championships.

The Brawl at the Beach was held at North Brunswick HS. This was a Freestyle/Greco-Roman Tournament for all ages and was wrestled OUTDOORS! Wrestlers left with medals AND tans from this event!

The Trojan Clash  was all ages Freestyle/Greco-Roman event hosted by NW Cabarrus HS in Concord. Competition was fast and furious on three mats as wrestlers from North and South Carolina came together for some great competition.

The Mountain Mauling at Tuscola High School featured a slightly different format. Wrestlers of all ages wrestled one tournament, but they competed in all three styles in EACH MATCH. This "condensed ironman" concept was a lot of fun, and 14 wrestlers were recognized as IRONMEN for winning every period of the days competition.

All eyes now turn to the  State Freestyle & Greco-Roman Championships set for the Winston-Salem Fairgrounds Annex in Winston-Salem next weekend.

Thanks to all the schools/clubs who hosted this past weekend and the many volunteers who helped make three events successful!
